Today I am going to give you one of those secrets that you will use for life so pay attention. I am sorry but when it comes to chocolate I take things very seriously.
Melting chocolate in the microwave is a skill that any cook should master.
Whether it is a recipe where the chocolate is supposed to be melted and poured on top; or one where molten chocolate is supposed to be infused, this is the right recipe.
My journey with chocolate has been pretty eventful.
I was blessed to have people around me that consumed chocolate with all the fervor in the world so you can be sure that this recipe will hit the spot with your people.
Why don’t we get right in:
Preparing The Chocolate Before Melting It In The Microwave
A very important thing that you would need to consider is: The right bowl
This is fairly simple to get right as this step involves you knowing your utensils properly. To be safe make sure that the bowl isn’t metallic.
If you cross that hurdle you are one step closer. The only sure way though is looking for markings that show that the container is microwave safe. Don’t be misled.
Between me and you, having the container dry will ensure that the chocolate comes out intact and nice.
Any trace of water in the bowl and you’ll have grainy or clumped up chocolate and I’m pretty sure you don’t want that.
Another challenge that I encountered with microwaves is that you will have to stir the chocolate after every 30 seconds.
This is because the heat from microwaves is really strong and leaving the chocolate for a bit longer will give you bitter and burnt chocolates.
We don’t want that now, do we?
Okay, enough talk now, let’s cook:
How To Melt The Chocolate In The Microwave
Now that we have a bowl, the chocolate, something to stir with, and a microwave, these are the quick steps you’ll follow:
Step 1: Break the Chocolate
I would advise breaking or cutting the chocolate into much smaller pieces as this will increase the area of the chocolate on which heat acts, making the process much faster.
Once you’ve done this, place the chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl.
Step 2: Place chocolate In the microwave
Please ensure that you switch to a low or defrost setting on your microwave for this part. Once this is done place the chocolate in the microwave for 30 seconds.
Step 3: Stir the Chocolate
When the first cycle is done remove the bowl and stir it. This will help to re-spread the chocolate making sure heat spreads evenly.
Make sure you remove the spoon you stirred with before putting the bowl back.
Step 4: Repeat this Process
This is it. Well not really, what you have to do right now is to make sure that you repeat the process until the chocolate melts fully.
This might take you 2 or 3 times but don’t give up, the picture of molten chocolate afterward should be motivation enough for any of you that might feel like giving up.
Step 5: Let the Chocolate Cool
When you are satisfied with the consistency of the chocolate, let it cool for a minute or two. Patience will be key here.
Now you know I cannot leave you without recipes, right? What kind of a mother would I be to give you instructions and not show you where to use them.
