Homemade soft pretzels are the best snack foods. I thought I would try making some for the family; it took some time to get everything right.

Ingredients Needed For Giant Soft Pretzels
Some of the things you will require include.
- Around 41/2 cups of all-purpose flour
- 2 cups of water
- One tablespoon sugar
- Active dry yeast ( one package)
- Melted unsalted butter ( 2 ounces)
- 10 cups of water
- Two tablespoons kosher salt
- Pretzel salt
- A large egg yolk
- 2/3 cup of baking soda
- Vegetable oil.
Mix kosher salt, water, and sugar in a bowl and sprinkle your active yeast on top. Let the bowl sit for a few minutes until it starts forming.
Preparations will take around thirty minutes; it can be faster when you have all the ingredients ready.
Add butter and flour and mix it again until the dough is very soft. You should adjust the setting on your mixer to ensure everything has mixed well.
Remove the dough from the bowl and add vegetable oil to the bowl after cleaning it. After returning the dough back to the oiled bowl, you should allow it to sit for at least fifty minutes.
You will notice the dough has almost doubled in size. Ensure you cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it sit in a warm place; you can leave it even for up to an hour.
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees F. you should then bring the ten cups of water with baking soda to a boil.
While your water is boiling, you can cut the dough into eight pieces. Roll the pieces into thin ropes and twist them to form a pretzel shape.
These will give you big pretzels, but you can cut them into four if you want giant pretzels. Creating the shapes won’t take much of your time.
Once you are done, place the pretzels into the boiling water and leave them for thirty minutes. Add the pretzels one by one; avoid putting all of them in the water at the same time.
Remove the pretzel from water with a large spatula and place them on the half sheet pan. Once you have all your pretzels, you can brush the water and egg yolk mixture on each pretzel.
Sprinkle the pretzel salt on all the pieces before you start baking.
Cook them for about 14 minutes; they should be golden brown at this point. Transfer your pretzels to a cooling rack to cool for five minutes before you serve or take a bite.
