How to store leftover fried eggs for cooking later

When you precook eggs for later use or have some leftovers after your meal, I recommend storing them correctly by freezing or refrigerating them.

Proper storage maintains the integrity of your eggs, making reheating process simple.
Here are the steps of storing your fried eggs

1. Package the fried eggs separately or wrap them individually and add them together. I use either plastic wrap or paper towels to wrap each fried egg separately.

2. Then, place the eggs on an airtight container or into a sealing bag.

3. You can either refrigerate the eggs for up to five days or freeze them for up to four months.

How to reheat fried eggs

Reheating fried eggs is a simple and straightforward process.

The best thing is you don’t have to worry about defrosting time if you stored your fried eggs either in the freezer or fridge.

That is because eggs tend to hold extra moisture, so I recommend that you go directly from the freezer or fridge to reheating.

There are two best-reheating methods that I recommend….

• Reheating fried eggs using a microwave
• Reheating fried eggs using the skillet

Method 1: Reheating fried eggs using a microwave

Reheating fried eggs using a microwave is quick and relatively simple.

However, be mindful of the microwaving process to prevent overcooking, making the eggs rubbery and dried out.

Below are the steps I recommend you follow when reheating your fried eggs in the microwave

1. Wrap or cover the fried egg on a paper towel. That will help in maintaining the quality and texture of the fried egg.

2. Put the wrapped egg on a microwave-safe plate.

3. Reheat the fried eggs for 15 seconds using the microwave’s lowest setting. Then, flip over and repeat until the egg is heated to your liking.

4. Lastly, once the egg is warmed up, remove it from the microwave and serve.

Method 2: Reheating fried eggs using a skillet

You can also reheat fried eggs using a skillet with a small amount of oil or butter.

However, you should make sure you do not overcook the fried eggs to prevent the fried eggs from losing their flavour.

Below are the steps to follow on this method.

1. Preheat the pan with a small amount of butter or oil on medium heat

2. Place the egg on the heated pan and let it heat for about 1- 2 minutes.

3. You can flip the egg after the first minute to ensure it is evenly warmed up. However, if the egg heat through one side for 2 to 5 minutes, you don’t need to flip.

4. Once the fried egg is reheated to your liking, remove it from the pan, serve and enjoy.
